About FireRiskHere

FireRiskHere is a live wildfire site for the United States, built around one question: Is there a wildfire near me right now? The front page shows the wildfires burning near you, the map shows every wildfire in the country, and the data updates every 15 minutes. The site is free, works without an account, shows no ads, and uses no trackers.

What you’ll find here

Open the front page and you can see how many wildfires are within 50 miles of where you are, the name and distance of the nearest one, and where each fire is on a map of your area. The list is sorted nearest first.

The national map shows every active wildfire across the United States — all 50 states plus DC — with filters for state, status, and size. It’s the same data, just zoomed out.

Both views pull from the same official sources. The methodology page explains where the data comes from, how it’s combined, and what its limits are.

When this site is and isn’t useful

It is not built for emergencies, and it is not an official emergency channel. It does not issue evacuation orders or predict where a fire is going to spread next. A fire reported in the last few minutes may not show up here yet — the data updates every 15 minutes, not in real time.
